Beautiful unknown by nev777
Beautiful unknown
Found this face on a site and decided to draw her ..know her? any ways a needle in a haystack to find her but, her eyes and something in her female beauty caught my eye ..maybe because for a change she is a strawberry blonde (redhead). ..(sorry blondes) and it don't help that I didn't use colour ,but working on that ...She has fascinating eye contact...

Thank you very much for the 'Watch', Nev.

I see that you have followed a rather similar path to me.  I had not drawn since 'O' Level at school (apart from one ballpoint drawing of our coffee table) until I drew a nude from a televised life-class one lunchtime in 2009.  I then really took up drawing at  Christmas 2009 and have not stopped since (my First Year Journal describes my journey if you are interested).  Between us we prove that it is never too late to start drawing!

Hi Clive, thank you for taking the time to comment ......the watch on you will be my pleasure...You have wonderful ability as shown in your artwork...and you sound very nice...
yes I will be interested to read your journal and I will....and .yes we are both late starters ..I drew a little when I was 13 in hospital mainly comic covers then 17 to 18 disney characters, then got married and the rest is history, kids ,job chasing the dream, nothing in drawing till a couple of years ago when I found deviant art through my son and was challenged by him to draw . He is getting  very in trenched in street art and has been selling general art and having exhibitions. Very proud of his ability,he is getting so good..

so I took up the challenge which is  mainly portraits . Great stress reliever at the time  ..feel where I started till now I have got a lot better, been involved in the lives of and on of so many wonderful  artists,  and with artist like you setting the standard I will be challenged to improve more , time will tell, although at 68 its one day at a time ...Funny how things work out ..my life from 21 till now has been a grand journey, 45 years in the one job, retired last year,no regrets, but I do wonder where my art journey would have been starting back then...but you are right as shown between us it's never to late ...I get so much enjoyment out of the challenge and the challenge to improve, I draw and step into a timeless area ..I look at work like yours and dream....Mark Stewart is another who is such an inspiration and friend who I admire..
Anyway Clive sorry for the autobiography helps to know where we are ...will get to see all your latest and just wanted to say stay in touch , I will ....
                 Take care Nev:happybounce:

I was made redundant in 2004 after just over 30 years working for the same company.  I was very lucky as I found a niche (analytical quality control for a Water Company) which suited me very well.  I was largely left to make the job my own, with absolutely minimal guidance from above (for many years my boss was 20 miles away).  Unfortunately I computerised and automated a lot of what I did analysing AQC data and so they felt that they could get by without me.  A shock for a few hours, but it was actually the best thing that could have happened.  I have been involved with the U3A since that time both attending (music and life drawing) and running (2 yoga) classes.

I think that I started to draw at the right time for me.  If I had got the bug earlier I would not have listened to the classical music that I greatly enjoyed, and drawing might have worked through me by now, leaving me without that interest now when it is most useful as I now lack some of the energy that I used to have.  This is because about the same time as I joined dA I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.  Unfortunately it is an aggressive type and had already left my prostate before it was found (I had had no symptoms).  Although it cannot be cured, hormone therapy is controlling it well at present, but I have to endure the hot flushes.
I too find that when I am drawing, time and worries disappear!
I also find Mark Stewart's drawings an inspiration, but I am not tempted to go larger than A4 in the search of recording extra detail. A4 is convenient to work on, store and display ( I have framed quite a few).
The 63 of my username is my age when I started drawing.  I am now 69.
Best wishes,
Clive

Thank you again Clive for sharing, read this again as your work situation read something like mine and really glad to be out of that situation  but  now I am home most of the time finding out the wife needs a medal for putting up  with me ...well at least at this stage my  health has been ok.. Bye the bye it just occurred to me that I  think I sent you a note, can you confirm if I did ...getting a little forgetful in my old age and only 2 years younger than you. If I did disregard any repeats.. I to haven't gone bigger than a4 but am preparing for a art contest and will try real hard to draw a picture larger than my comfort zone ....also just wanted to say as we have had some  similarities in our work lives, choice of art and art friends ,I would be privileged if we can stay in touch ,,,, not to many artists of similar age and  history out there...If not I will be watching out for your next submission ..catch up shortly...    Thanks Clive ...Nev:happybounce:
